CHAPTER 16
Graham had been quiet the whole ride home with his hand on Hannahâs knee, eyes boring into the back of Joshâs headrest. Hannah found the whole thing amusing, and she hated to admit Graham was right. If he had behaved that way a few weeks prior, Hannah would have had a few choice words for him, but she just found it entertaining.
When they pulled up to the farmhouse, Hannah said her goodbyes to Josh. Graham was already out and opened her door. She stood, and Graham shut it behind her.
The realization that he had opened all the doors, paid for all the drinks, and been a perfect gentleman the whole night took her by surprise. He also got along well with all her friends. Hannah couldnât remember many dates that went that way.
And to think, only a few weeks prior, Hannah thought him to be a hopeless brute. Sure, he was close to ravishing her at the bar, and sure, she had secretly wished he would have just heaved her up on the bar and done dirty things to her. But it was only a wish, and if she had gotten her way once inside the house, it would be reality.
âI had an enjoyable time tonight with ye, Hannah,â Graham said as he smiled down at her. His hand rested on the small of her back as she put the key in the lock and opened the door. They walked in, and Hannah kicked off her shoes.
âIt doesnât have to be over yet,â Hannah said. She looked at him with the same fire in her eyes as she did at the bar.
âI think we need to talk first, Hannah.â
âNo more talking.â Hannah fisted his shirt in her hands and walked him back until his ass hit the counter. She reached up and kissed him.
He pulled his head up and put his hands on her shoulders. âHannah, wait.â
âWhy, Graham? Donât you want to do more than kiss me? You seem to like me. I mean, you seem like you are attracted to me.â
âBe assured it is not a lack of desire,â he said. Hannah felt something poking her belly that told her his words were true.
âThen, what?â she asked.
âHannah . . . I just want to make sure it is what you want. I am leaving soon, and you were the one who said you didnât want things to be complicated.â
âThis wonât complicate things.â
âHow could it not? You could become with child. Then, what would we do?â
Hannah smiled up at him. âWell, if that is your only concern, I can tell you I am on the pill.â
âThe pill?â His brows pinched as he looked down at her, her eyes still burning with passion.
âYes, the pill. Birth control. I take it, so I wonât get pregnant until I am ready.â
âThe future has thought of everything.â He shook his head.
âYes,â Hannah said, as she tried to kiss him again.
He pulled back.
âWell, there is something else I must tell you before we proceed further.
